Text Box: As a person who is very rarely NOT in a moving mode (I can barely sit still for a half hour TV show!), I am always looking for ways to steer that energy to move in activities that are positive and comfortable to my body, mind, and spirit. In the past I have run a half marathon, hiked fifty miles in a week, bicycled one hundred miles in a day and bicycled 500 miles in a week. Each time I set out to accomplish those goals, I made certain that I was as comfortable as possible and enjoyed the training process as well as the end result. That is not to say I temporarily did not suffer a few blisters, a numb backside, or felt overly exhausted and tired. Whatever we choose to do to move our bodies, it remains pertinent that we must find activities we love and enjoy so our bodies can find the pleasure factor in it all. If body, mind, and spirit are in agreement with the activities we choose, we will surely feel the endorphins that produce that pleasure factor.

Think of all the activities that we have in our society that are just at our fingertips each day—walking, running, bicycling, hiking, inline skating, swimming, and an array of other movements. Now think of how our society has sabotaged these opportunities with computers, TV, virtual games, and all the other sedentary activities (do I dare call them activities since there is very little ACTIVE involved!?). We are now programmed within our society to think we don’t have time to use our bodies in ways that truly entice activity. Our society has promoted the workday as being more important than time spent in activity to help take care of ourselves. Our bodies were designed to move in order to take care of our external world. We are by design meant to move about to burn calories and keep the metabolism up for optimal functioning. Our original design was for hunting, farming, and participating in activities that now machines and technology do for us. So, it is now up to us to choose ways in which we can nurture our bodies with movement. It is a part of our lives that we should covet and hold sacred toward keeping ourselves healthy.

Many very successful individuals will tell you that a good part of their success is somewhat due to the diligence of moving and making the mind healthy so that decision making comes easier. Movement is used to stimulate clear thinking and proper thought patterns for success. The brain needs to connect with the body for movement to be efficient. If our movement does not feed our minds, we are left with reservoirs of stagnation in our systems. It is the pumping of the blood and the stimulating of all the systems that rejuvenates and refreshes the body. There are many ways to move so that the stagnation of our systems is released. Many of these stagnation-releasing activities not only work through our bodies and minds but can also balance our spirits.

The spirit is not a place in the body that we can see or touch. It lies within the depths of our beings and gives us our feelings, intuition, and drive for life. Our place of spirit doesn’t have an address in the anatomy of our body but really resides in our inner selves. The spirit is very stimulated by movement as we clear our body and mind of stagnation. It is attuned to certain movements that stimulate our hearts and our guts for decision making, intuition, and living with clarity. This is what makes it so important to find movement that will clear our physical body of toxins so that the spirit of us can play more to the place that helps us feel happy, content, and quiet in the soul. Not all of our soul work is done through movement, but movement can be and is used for clearing and stimulating the process of our inner spirit clarity.

Give your body the gift of the ability and opportunity to move in your body everyday. Be aware of whether you have deprived your body of this gift or if it has been something familiar to your systems, schedule, or psyche. If you need help, let one of our practitioners know how we can be of encouragement to you so you can want, desire, and love the part of your day that you see sacred to move. Allow yourself to be healthy through the positive clearing of the toxic matters of the body, mind, and spirit. Get on the band wagon in this spring season of new beginnings, and find that place for movement that can and will stimulate a positive agreement in the functioning of the body, mind, and spirit.
